Our First Meeting
Tell Me Your Story
This is the process of sharing with me your love story over a relaxed cup of tea or coffee! I’ll bring my creative experience & ceremonial inspiration for us to work with so we may collectively create a beautiful ceremonial celebration, unique & personal to you.
Your Love Story
There is nothing more incredible than personal hearing stories of love. Much of this first meeting, therefore, I sit & listen.
How did you meet? Who took the initiative? Was it awkward? Was it romantic? Was it a comedy of errors? What obstacles were there? How were they overcome? & from that day to this, what has happened that has brought you to this point of wanting to be wed by me. Lucky me!
The storytelling is informal & relaxed but this conversation offers me a starting point to be able to craft a script that will, with your blessing & a little editing by all three of us, be delivered on your wedding so that all your guests may share in your journey as I have today.
From this time going forwards, when I am writing your ceremony, we communicate by email & phone. You begin work on your vows & choosing readings or blessings.
Writing or choosing your vows & readings is something that most couples enjoy. It is the part of the ceremony that is most essentially personal. I will, however, furnish you will templates, resources & examples to help you with ideas if you have writer’s block or cannot find anything you feel is perfect for you.
At the end of our time spent together at this face to face meeting, I will also set each of you a little homework task as a takeaway, so I can further understand your love story, personalities & eccentricities. NB: If a face-to-face meeting is not possible there are options to do this virtually
The Legals
Don’t worry – I’ve got the Legals covered! Together, at the first meeting, we will complete the first of these documents, called the NOIM (Notice Of Intended Marriage) at this meeting. All I need from you is proof of a few relevant documents - see legal requirements.
I will bring a resource package to this meeting & use it to outline the many varied choices (style, rituals, format, language etc.) you have in creating your tailored marriage ceremony.
This meeting takes anywhere from one to two hours in duration.
